In memoriam Joseph Angelo Pizza 08 November 1939 – 14 April 2012.

Beloved husband of Jeanne Marie Pizza, devoted father of Eric Pizza, step father of Michael J Beach, brother of Thomas A. and Angelo Pizza. Joe is also survived by 3 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Leo Church in Baltimore, Md on Saturday 21 April. In Lieu of flowers, Joe asked that donations be made to several charities including Miami Dade Reef Guard. Joe’s remains will be placed on the Neptune Memorial Reef off Key Biscayne: neptunesociety.com/memorial-reef/

We thank all those who made donations.

Miami Ophelia Brian Wreck Treasure Hunt - 12th March 2011.

On Saturday March 12th sixteen divers took to the water on the Ophelia Brian wreck in search of hidden treasure.  About 250 2010 (blue) Reef Guard medallions were hidden throughout the wreck by 3 volunteer divers before the treasure hunt could begin.

Miami Wreck Trek Fish Survey - 28th August 2010
At 3pm on Saturday August 28th more than 30 volunteer divers met at the Tarpoon Diving Center near the Miami Beach Marina for the Wreck Trek fish survey.

The Miami-Dade Reef Guard Association (MIRA) in carrying out its mission of protecting and safeguarding Miami-Dade's coral reefs, arranged for the placement and sinking of the Ophelia Brian - the largest ship ever purposely sunk as an artificial reef in Miami-Dade County by and for sport diving.
